PPL(A) exam preparation
I’ve decided to get the Private Pilot License here in Slovenia and I’ll share the pieces of the puzzle needed to complete the course here. I found finding information about the whole story very difficult. So I’ll try to build a page here to contain all the information in one place. Any comments or additional material is welcome.
Schools:
- Janez let d.o.o. – professional, good price, ground school @ Ljubljana and airport at Divača (LJDI)
Learning material:
- iPhone/iPad book: Pilot Handbook (thanks Rok)
- Air Pilot’s Manual – 1 to 7 7 books, very detailed, very good, but I think a little too detailed.
Official questions:
Equipment needed:
Other helpful stuff:
- A very nice site about navigation – but includes NDB/VOR/ILS which you’ll not need for initial PPL(A).
- Spin/Stall testing – nice view of what’s actually happening with the air on the wings
Simulations:
- Microsoft Flight Simulator – sad to say, the best one, working only on windows
- Slovenia for FSX
- X-plane
Simulator equipment:
- Ideally you would own: Cessna yoke,Cessna rudder pedals,Cessna trim wheel, but it’s quite new at the moment and I didn’t spot in in Europe, so a generic yoke, rudder will do.
